I goofed and need help. In 1998 or 1999 (If my memory is correct) we had an auction of my mother’s household goods outside on the lawn of her home. She had Alzheimer’s and was no longer able to live in her own home. There were many challenges during that time for my brothers and me as we worked to figure out how to best care for her and also pay for her care. At the time, I was experiencing changes in my own life and didn’t speak up about keeping mom’s machine when I should have.
I am looking for my mother’s sewing machine, and the desk that went with it, in an effort to get it back. It is the machine on which learned to sew. My mom was Martha Baldwin and she lived at 1602 East Ave., in Baxter Springs, Kans., for 50 years. The photo in this post is an Adler 189A I found online for reference. I would very much like to have the machine and sewing desk with drawers from my childhood home. The machine and desk were both in very good condition when they were sold.
The machine was in a wooden cabinet (sewing machine desk) that had three drawers on the right. The machine would fold down inside. A hinged, wooden workspace would fold from left to right over the top of the machine (when it was folded down) making it look like a small desk. Please send me a message if you have any knowledge of the desk and sewing machine I’m looking for.
