Birth Announcement Pillow—Jason

When my friend (and chiropractor) had her baby, Tiffany, she asked me to make 20″ x 20″pillows for her other two children because she loved the gift.

Like the Tiffany pillow, I used Embrilliance embroidery software to edit a birth announcement file for Jason that was purchased from Designs by JuJu. After completing the machine embroidery, I quilted it using ruler and free-motion quilting before adding the backing fabric and binding.

The pillow was quilted using 40wt Glide thread in light gray in the borders and white thread in the center panel. The embroidery mainly was Madeira brand thread.  I especially like using fabric with tiny polka dots as a background for embroidery. The dots on this fabric are light gray.

The elephant, baby words and baby alphabet fabrics used in the border and on the back were from a Benartex Fabrics, My Little Sunshine, “Win it Wednesday” drawing on Instagram a couple of years ago. I was super excited to win a collection of baby-themed fat quarters. I had been waiting for the perfect project to use them—and this was it! It’s a fantastic fabric collection. I’ve used a few of the other fat quarters for other projects and have a handful of them ready for my next baby boy quilting project.
