Ruler Quilting—Practice, Charity Quilt

I recently completed and donated this quilt to OPQG who'll in turn pass it on to our local chapter of Newborns in Need.

This the first of several, simple 36" baby quilts I'm making in order to practice and learn a new skill, ruler quilting. I'm thinking whatever baby receives this will not care that part of the quilting is clamshells, part of it is bubbles and part of it is quilted with random arcs. I purchased three sets of Westalee 1/4" acrylic rulers and I'm working hard to master the skills. A second similar, practice quilt is already in process. I'm doing the practice quits in simple five-inch squares to give me lots of seam lines to use as guides.

I bought the original starter set of rulers that came with a high-shank ruler foot that I can use with my Brother PQ1500S high-speed, straight stitch and quilting machine. I quickly learned I had purchased the wrong foot as the needle was way too close to the presser foot. I joined a Westalee group on Facebook, asked for advice and within five minutes learned I need the high shank "special" ruler foot for my machine. I exchanged the foot and voila!–problems solved.
